Supply Chain/Procurement Manager

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for purchasing and supply chain materials management, working out of our Burlington facility.  This critical function ensures 100% product availability to meet customer demand by collaborating in the company’s sales and operations planning process, monitoring inventory levels, and planning and purchasing materials.  The position is full-time, reporting to the Vice President, Manufacturing and Operations.  This position is responsible for negotiations with vendors and the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment and services used by scPharmaceuticals Inc.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of materials and services by:
    • Utilizing forecasts to effectively plan materials andbalance inventory levels while ensuring 100% product availability
    • Monitoring and managing inventory levels and safety stock for all finished and constituent products throughout the supply chain
  • Aids in the development, implementation, and maintainance of policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions
  • Ensures the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at minimum acceptable levels
  • Responsible for tracking materials sent throughout the supply chain from supplier to supplier, supplier to 3PL, and 3PL to specialty pharma
  • Coordinates documentation for international shipments of imported and exported materials
  • Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials and outside services
  • Coordinates with finance/accounting on matters involving supplier approval processes and controls
  • Assists finance/accounting with the receipt of supplier information for the generation of 1099s
  • May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system
  • Develops cost saving proposals, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria
  • Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate, examines bids and makes awards
  • Aids in the establishment of account/credit and terms
  • Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period
  • Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers
  • Follows environmental and safety regulations in compliance with US and International law
  • Manages vendors to adhere to corporate guidelines and compliance initiatives, including financial terms and conditions

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related area or sufficient work experience and secondary education to demonstrate proficiency
  • Four to seven years of supply chain experience, preferably in medical device or related field
  • Purchasing experience for finished products, materials and components in an international environment is preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Specific experience and comfort in the following areas:
  • Negotiating skills
  • Proficient in SAGE / ORACLE or equivalent, and with MS Office suite
  • Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate professionally and efficiently with external vendors/suppliers
  • Strong team player, collaborating with sales and marketing, manufacturing, quality, and engineering both internally and with strategic partners
  • Extensive knowledge of material work planning and method engineering, processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of international shipping documentation of pharma and med device materials
  • Complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control procedures
  • Ability to use ERP systems and spreadsheets at an expert level
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
  • Project management skills with experience including new product development implementation
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Demonstrated forward strategic thinking capability
  • Strong communications and relationship building skills
  • Basic knowledge of medical device and pharmaceutical industry preferred
