Staff Accountant / AP Specialist


The Staff Accountant/AP Specialist will support and report to the Accounting Manager. S/he will have primary responsibility for processing accounts payable, expense reports and assisting with the general ledger.


  • Create purchase requisitions
  • Generate purchase orders
  • Validate and process employee expense reports via Concur
  • Be a point of contact to organization for expense report issues
  • Gather approvals and enter accounts payable invoices in Sage X3
  • Maintain organized A/P filing system on SharePoint and in Outlook
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for operating accounts
  • Assist in monthly closing entries and ensure monthly closing tasks completed timely and accurately
  • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations, detail schedules, and other supporting documentation is signed off and filed
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Support financial reporting requirements, SOX controls
  • Prepare correspondence as needed within the department or organization
  • Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time
  • Provide support, as requested, on ancillary projects

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in accounting or business
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with accounts payable, general ledger function and the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, preferred

Skills & Abilities Requirements:

  • Strong PC skills, including high proficiency in excel
  • A high degree of professionalism and meticulous attention to detail and great accuracy required
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
