Director of Government Contracts, Pricing and Trade

Overview

The Director of Government Contracts, Pricing and Trade will implement and oversee the pricing, distribution and trade strategy for scPharmaceuticals across all US channels. A key responsibility of this role will be to meet all government reporting requirements, state drug pricing reporting transparency and successfully implement the distribution channel, ensuring launch readiness to deliver product for patients. This individual will work closely with patient services, marketing, finance, legal, manufacturing and supply chain, field sales and market access, and be a key member of the launch team. They will manage the design and implementation of various contracts with payer customers, IDNs, distributors and specialty pharmacies to ensure clear, stable, and profitable relationships with the trade partners. This position reports to the VP of Market Access.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement distribution channel strategy and coordinating with the team to foster and maintain relationships with selected 3PL, Specialty Pharmacy partners, IDNs, GPO’s and distributors
  • Establish pricing and contracting strategies and process for the company – working with GP Vendor on all Government Programs, Price Calculations, Rebate Claims Adjudication, Drug Pricing Compendia submissions and GTN for the company.
  • Drive Managed Care and IDN contracting, leading all Medicare and Commercial initiatives
  • Oversee the successful launch and commercialization of our lead product, FUROSCIX as the strategic and functional lead for US product pricing, contracting and distribution
  • Work closely with internal colleagues to ensure smooth integration of Specialty Pharmacy partners into HUB/ Patient Services
  • Establish key metrics for specialty pharmacy partners and hold them accountable through regular quarterly update meetings and data analysis
  • Maintain product availability through the trade partners, wholesalers, hospitals and pharmacies
  • Partner with finance, manufacturing and supply chain to oversee 3PL ordering process, manage distribution inventory and lead overall distribution implementation and operations. Develop distribution policies and procedures including but not limited to orders, returns and inventory management

Education & Experience 

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a market access related function
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • In-depth knowledge of managed care, with strong Medicare/CMS experience.
  • Experience building and managing distribution network including specialty pharmacies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Government Pricing, State Transparency Reporting and GTN
  • Experience negotiating and managing complex contracts, building infrastructure to capture and report actionable performance metrics, and managing multiple partners to successfully achieve business goals
  • Experience with launch products, ideally in a Medicare population
